Link Hunting & Guerilla SEO Marketing - How to use your Competitors to your Advantage
No competitor in their right mind is going to throw you a bone that can bolster your rankings to beat them, but if your savvy enough to point and click with purpose, they won’t have to.

How can you benefit from what your competition does to stay visible online? Use their own trail of strategic back links to your advantage. Here’s one SEO marketing tactic that is sure to win a few points for your sparring matches with your favorite competitors you love to hate for occupying the top 10 spots of your most coveted keywords.
How to Discover their secret stash of links:
Granted this may not always be the case, that you are able to determine which of the links your competition has working for them (as all links pass different types of link juice) but at least it can help you identify which links are overtly providing the most merit from a standpoint of page rank or Google link juice, which is all the rave online these days.
In addition to being on the first page of Google for the term SEO, SeoChat also has some great SEO tools that are available to the web at large to use for the sake of analysis, planning & marketing. One you may wish to check out is the Page Rank Search Tool. This tool is great if you want to (a) search for pages by page rank or (b) check out the highest page rank link of your competition.
Just
1) go to their page rank search and type in link:www.yourcompetitionswebsite.com
2) select sort by page rank
3) set results to 100 per page
Then low and behold their secret stash of links are exposed with the pages with the highest page rank gleaning out from those digital unturned stones.
From there, you have a hit list of websites in your industry that are potentially open for
a) A post on a comment section (tactfully done and on topic to a blog post for example)
b) A link from a page that has related content about your industry.
c) A possible exchange of some sort (not that you heard that from us) where one could propose an offer or service in exchange for a link.
or
d) some sort of agreeable strategic alliance, which you can work out.
The possibilities are up to your imagination, the point being, find what they use and let it make you stronger. For example, one of our competitors who kept edging up on us had this website as one of the main links in their profile. Let’s just say that if you wanted to create an instant article that gets translated into 8 languages and multiple back links in just a matter of minutes for your articles is what you wanted, then ArticleSet is one gem harvested from this type of SEO Link Hunting.
Just make sure when you create the html authors box, you place a description that you can live with, because any future submissions from this site will have the same author’s profile, unless you create a new name.
So what are you waiting for, go out there and start treasure hunting some Seo backlinks for your websites’ link building campaign, although it is by no means the most notable tactic, it does provide new resources if you dig deep enough.
Another use of this tactic is just to conduct a search for a keyword you fancy and the first company that shows up that does not have any of those keywords in their domain name and is ranking in the top 5 or top 10 search results organically, guess what, that’s your competition, so you can use their site to find more juicy links other than the ordinary link:mycompetitorswebsite.com in Yahoo.
Enjoy.
