SEO and Internal Linking

Why Internal Links Matter More than Backlinks

To start with a mental image and analogy, think of internal links like veins in your website analogous SEO circulatory system.  Their role and function are equally as important to the health of your website as the veins are to your body.

The Value of Link Weight

Think of each page as an island in itself, the page essentially has 3 attributes and/or characteristics (1) the links to it from other pages (2) the content or topic of the page and (3) the links leaving the page.

Backlinks have always been a contentious issue among SEO companies. Obviously, a high page ranking site is great to get as a link, however I believe that all links are good links.
If you only go for the high ranking links you can end up in hot water from Google, as you don’t need a fancy algorithm to identify that the only reason the person has that link is because they are artificially amassing them. Natural links is what Google is all about. So internal (necessary to give credance to your site) and external links are equally important.
