Although I understand your sentiments, no all people who leave comments are interested in keeping things above board. So, unless the wild west of link building spam laden opportunists cease to exist anytime soon, then I must refrain from following everyone's links who post on this blog.

Think of it like this, SERPs are only one way to get traffic from comments. If you provide value, comment intelligently and use your name instead of keywords, then maybe webmasters / bloggers and visitors would be more apt to follow the link (by clicking it) which is the ultimate end result ... TRAFFIC.

So, make good impressions by adding to the conversation, then bloggers will take notice, visit your blog and then if it is impressive, they will drop a link to you in a post.

Just a thought...

I love leaving comments here. but I have to say that that the "nofollow" command on your site makes it not so exciting to leave a comment. I suggest you download: http://www.seopedia.org/personal/remove-nofollow-from-wordpress-comments/ and remove the nofollow command.

A lot of the techniques you suggest in "What Does it Take to Create Amazing SEO Results?" are similar to the dedication and techniques used in the process of learning to play the guitar.
