Thank you for this great post. On my blog I commented about the downside of this recent change: keywords may show as "active", when they are really "inactive". This complicates bidding optimization, and makes it very difficult to accurately judge when it is ok to delete keywords with no impressions.

@Stumble and Amit:

Page Rank always has been an indicator of sites which have gained a degree of authority according to the Google algorithm.

The significance it as it, it can indicate which pages have (1) a higher indexing rate and (2) other sites within the algorithm that are passing value (whether or not they are internal or external links).

I am aware that as a metric is is not the be all end all, however the suggestion here is to use the pages that appear in the index with PR as pivotal components to funnel link weight through the rest of your pages to equivocally raise the bar for your entire site.

You still need on page SEO, you still need 15-35 inbound links from external sources to compete nationally for your money keywords, but I understand your sentiments.

Well really it hardly matters with PR now and it's distribution on to the internal pages, now inbound links impact a lot on the rankings.

I think PR lost its significance. Most ranking are now not dependent on inbound links...

Man to think I just launched my website, http://www.puredezigner.com back in the middle of July 2008. I remember thinking to myself, man I have to wait 3-6 months for my google PR to update, but last night I noticed I had jumped to PR3. I am very happy about the updates! I'd love to hear of others updates and how certain SEO techniques have helped them gerate better stats, please share your updates with us?

Thanks,
Curtis
