Just in case you wondered what we have been perfecting in our testing lab, SEO Design Solutions is proud to introduce The Happy Landings WordPress Theme.

Our W3C compliant theme is a dream theme for affiliates, e-commerce sites or for anyone interested in creating a strong compelling visual impact with ads and features up to 10 random ad options for the masthead, skyscraper or 125 x 125 ads, while still maintaining all of the SEO benefits that WordPress has to offer.

From here, I leave the details to our lead Developer John Lamansky to provide the overview of the Happy Landings Theme features and benefits.

Built-in Settings Pages

When you upload and activate the Landing Page theme, it automatically adds 3 additional settings pages to the Appearance menu – no plugins required! A bonus normally found only on for-pay premium themes, these administration modules are labeled “Theme Images,” “Theme SEO,” and “Theme Ads” – it’s like getting 3 plugins for free.

Comprehensive Ad Support

The Landing Page theme from SEO Design Solutions is perfect for the WordPress-enabled affiliate marketer.

The Landing Page theme seamlessly integrates with 3 types of ads:

  • Above-the-fold banner ads
  • 125×125 mini ads
  • Skyscraper sidebar ads

Extra Bonus: The Landing Page theme will also add “nofollow” attributes to your image ads automatically, to help you avoid Google’s paid links penalty.

Advertisement Rotation Functionality

Advertisements are managed from the “Theme Ads” administration module. Up to 10 ads are supported per ad locale. Every time a page on your blog is loaded, the Landing Page theme will randomly pick ads for each ad locale (to help decrease visitor ad blindness).

Extra Bonus: Unlike traditional JavaScript-based ad rotators, the ad rotation functionality of the Landing Page theme uses server-side PHP, meaning that ad rotation will continue to operate even for visitors who have disabled JavaScript.

Dynamic Ad Layout

All 3 built-in ad locales can adjust to the size and/or quantity of your advertisements.

The above-the-fold banner ad section and the skyscraper sidebar ad sections automatically resize to the heights of your ad images.

The 125×125 mini ads are arranged in <table>-free columns that automatically adjust when output quantity is altered.

For example, if you display set 4 mini ads to display, then the ads will automatically display in 4 columns. If you set 10 mini ads to display, then they’ll display in 2 rows of 5 columns.

Perfect for Multivariate Testing

Our Landing Page theme allows each ad to be linked to a different webpage.

When you use this functionality in conjunction with Google Analytics (or other similar stats systems), you can conduct multivariate testing of the efficacy of your advertisements by pointing clickthroughs of each ad to different conversion funnels.

Seamless Logo Integration

Adding a logo to your header is super-easy with the Landing Page theme. All you have to do is upload an image to your server, and then paste in the URL on the “Theme Images” page under the Appearance administration.

Extra Bonus: The height of the logo section will expand and contract based on your image height. If your logo is wide enough to cover up the search box, don’t worry – we’ve configured the search box so that it’ll hover above your logo image automatically.

Frontpage Meta Manager

The Landing Page theme provides you with SERP appearance control for your homepage by allowing you to customize the <title> tag and <meta> description/keyword tags of your frontpage.

Nofollow Settings

Under the “Theme SEO” module, there are checkboxes for applying the nofollow attribute to the following 3 locations of commonly-undesired PageRank leakage:

  • The registration/login links
  • Blogroll links
  • Links to date-based archives

Nofollow is optional for the above 3 link types, and can be enabled/disabled at will.

Extra Bonus: The Landing Page theme also adds nofollow to comment permalinks, further decreasing unnecessary page links.

Customization Support

The Landing Page theme is based on the powerful Sandbox framework. Sandbox’s advanced CSS selectors allow for high levels of user customization. For those who aren’t familiar with CSS/PHP programming, SEO Design Solutions also provides Landing Page theme customization services for its SEO clients.

WordPress 2.6 Feature Support

The Landing Page theme goes above and beyond antiquated WordPress themes by providing support for modern WordPress functionality like gravatars and widgets, to ensure you can take full advantage of those features.

Table-less CSS Layout

The complex layout of the Landing Page theme is accomplished with modern CSS programming, instead of antiquated <table> elements.

This increases visitor retention by decreasing load times through smaller file sizes and increased browser cache usage. This feature also improves your website’s search engine optimization by decreasing your website’s code-to-text ratio.

Widget Title Fixer

Our Landing Page theme seamlessly modifies default widget behavior so that titles are presented in <div> tags instead of the typical header tags, so as to avoid giving undesired SEO weight to irrelevant words like “Archives” and “Categories.”

Internationalization Support

Since the Landing Page theme is based on Sandbox, you can use Sandbox translation files to translate the theme to your own language. WordPress’s internationalization features are also utilized for textual strings specific to the Landing Page theme.

Microformat Support

Thanks to its foundation on Sandbox, the Landing Page theme from SEO Design Solutions supports microformats such as hCard, hAtom, and XOXO, which are part of the Semantic Web paradigm that has often been heralded as “Web 3.0.”

Valid XHTML and CSS

Last but not least, the Landing Page theme passes World Wide Web Consortium tests for proper XHTML and CSS formation, to help ensure proper parsing for both search engines and standards-compliant browsers.

  1. Would this be a good move for me?

  2. Danny:

Your theme is custom and perfect for what the function is, this is more for product sites that want to rank higher and have images that create incentives to leave the page. Whereas your site is truly content driven and the benefit is in retention.

Now, if you were selling something on your site, then I would suggest so, but really you are building your brand, which requires a different tact.

  3. Jim says:

I’m kind of new at this does the “happy landings” theme come with a setup page?

  4. Hi Jim,

The setup procedure for Happy Landings works just like that of any other standard WordPress theme:

    1. Download the .zip file and extract it using the extraction functionality included with your operating system.

    2. Use an FTP program to upload the “happy-landings” folder (the one that includes a bunch of files) to the “wp-content/themes” folder of your WordPress installation.

    3. Go to “Appearance > Themes” in your WordPress administration, then click “Happy Landings” to activate.

Once setup is complete, you’ll see “Theme Images”, “Theme Ads”, and “Theme SEO” under the “Appearance” section. There you can set up your logo, ads, and SEO options, respectively.

Let us know if you have additional questions.

  5. mecozz says:

how to edit banner at top ?

  6. @mecozz:

Use theme ads settings to upload images from your /images/ folder. For example, if it is in the images folder, then just use your url as one of the ads / masthead images.

Hello John – thanks for the great theme. A couple of questions for you:
    1) I did what was needed to get my site into the top 10 for my main targeted keyword, but for some reason the description tag isn’t showing. My Privacy is set to allow search engines to crawl, and I am not using any other SEO plugin that could cause a conflict. Any idea what the problem could be?
    2) How to I change the colors of the header and the white area outside of the sidebar ads?

I am going crazy, so any help would be greatly appreciated…
